Bylaws
Article I
The name of the organization is the Desert Hunt Invitational.
Article II
The Desert Hunt Invitational is organized exclusively for the entertainment purposes and, more specifically, to provide a social and competitive environment for its participants.
Article III
The Founders of the Desert Hunt Invitational are Ronald D. Connors, Spencer Larson, William D. Levey and Andrew M. Robinson III, collectively. The Founders are responsible for the overall policy and direction of the Desert Hunt Invitational and to the organization of the tournament including, but not limited to, the budget, collection and allocation of funds, the list of invitees, the list of alternates, Captain selection, the Champion's Dinner, all competitive golf rounds, lodging during the tournament and tournament gifts. Only the Founders , by majority vote, can amend these bylaws and makes changes to the structure and format of the tournament.
Article IV
The Desert Hunt Invitational shall be limited to sixteen (16) and no more than twenty-four (24) participants. Participants shall consist only of those individuals that have been extended an invitation by the Founders, have accepted said invitation, are in compliance with the provisions for the tournament and have paid in full all tournament fee as set forth by the criteria in these bylaws. The Founders will maintain a list of alternate attendees in the event that an invitee is unable to participate. The Founders reserve the right to rank the alternates attendees for the purpose of order of invitation.
Article V
The Founders shall set the date, time and place of the Desert Hunt Invitational. Notice of the Desert Hunt Invitational shall be given to each invitee and alternate attendees not less than one hundred and twenty (120) days prior to the tournament. The Desert Hunt Invitational officially begins with the Champions Dinner and concludes with the Captains Dinner.
Article VI
The Founders will establish the Desert Hunt Invitational tournament fees annually. Invitees are required to pay fifty (50) percent of the tournament fee, as a deposit, by no later than ninety (90) days prior to the beginning of the tournament. The deposit is non-refundable within sixty (60) days of the tournament. The balance of the fee is due by no later than forty-five (45) days prior to the tournament.
Article VII
All participants of the Desert Hunt Invitational must have a valid USGA handicap index. The USGA handicap index held by the participant thirty (30) days prior to the start of the tournament will be used to handicap the participant during competitive rounds. The Founders, at their sole discretion and by majority vote, reserve the right to allow an invitee without a valid USGA handicap index to participate in the tournament. If an invitee without a valid USGA handicap index is allowed to participate in the tournament, then the Founders, at their sole discretion and by majority vote, reserve the right to assign an equitable handicap index to that participant.
Article VIII
Team captains will be nominated and chosen by majority vote of the Founders. Team captains will be announced at the annual Captains Dinner. A captain's reign lasts one year, beginning at the conclusion of the Captains Dinner of the current year and ending at the conclusion of the Captains Dinner the following year. All participants are eligible for captaincy, however, only one member from the current year's winning team and only one member from the current year's losing team can be selected. The team captains are responsbile for the player draft, pairings selection for the competitive rounds of golf and all aspects, except costs within the budget, of the Captains Dinner.
Article IX
Teams must compete at equal strength at all times. In the event that an injury or any other development prohibits a player or players from competing for one team prior to the match, the opposing team must designate an equal number of player(s) to be non-competitive during the match. If injury, illness or any other development prevents a player or players from completing a match once the match has started, than that player or players forfeit that match to the opposing team. The Founders reserve the right to adjust the structure of a competitive round including, but not limited to, the format, point values and pairings in the event a player withdraws.
Article X
In the event that an invitee of the Desert Hunt Invitational is forced to withdraw from participation due to injury or illness, prior to sixty (60) days of the tournament, the invitee will be refunded their deposit in its entirety and they will retain their invitation status for the following year. An invitation would then be extended to an alternate (in order of rank) at the full tournament fee. In the event that an invitee of the Desert Hunt Invitational is forced to withdraw from participation due to injury or illness, within sixty (60) days of the tournament, the invitee will forfeit their deposit in its entirety and will retain their invitation status for the following year. An invitation would then be extended to an alternate (in order of rank) at fifty (50) percent of the tournament fee. The forfeited deposit of the invitee would be applied to the balance due from the alternate player.
Article XI
In the event that an invitee of the Desert Hunt Invitational is forced to withdraw from participation due to immediate family matters (including death, birth, illness or other extreme events), prior to sixty (60) days of the tournament, the invitee will be refunded their deposit in its entirety and they will retain their invitation status for the following year. An invitation would then be extended to an alternate (in order of rank) at the full tournament fee. In the event that an invitee of the Desert Hunt Invitational is forced to withdraw from participation due to immediate family matters, within sixty (60) days of the tournament, the invitee will forfeit their deposit in its entirety and will retain their invitation status for the following year. An invitation would then be extended to an alternate (in order of rank) at fifty (50) percent of the tournament fee. The forfeited deposit of the invitee would be applied to the balance due from the alternate player.
Article XII
In the event that an invitee of the Desert Hunt Invitational is forced to withdraw from participation for any other reason other then those detailed in Article X and Article XI of these bylaws, prior to sixty (60) days of the tournament, the invitee will be refunded their deposit in its entirety, they will lose their invitation status for the following year, and they will be moved to the alternate attendees list, except as provided in Article XIII. An invitation would then be extended to an alternate (in order of rank) at the full tournament fee and, contingent upon acceptance of the invitation and participation in the tournament as provided in Article XIII, the alternate will replace the invitee that withdrew on the invitation list to the following year's event. In the event that an invitee of the Desert Hunt Invitational is forced to withdraw from participation for any reason other then those detailed in Article X and Article XI of these bylaws, within sixty (60) days of the tournament, the invitee will forfeit their deposit in its entirety, they will lose their invitation status for the following year and they will be moved to the alternate attendees list, except as provided in Article XIII. An invitation would then be extended to an alternate (in order of rank) at fifty (50) percent of the tournament fee and, contingent upon acceptance of the invitation and participation in the tournament or as provided in Article XIII, the alternate will replace the invitee that withdrew on the invitation list to the following year's event. The forfeited deposit of the invitee would be applied to the balance due from the alternate player.
Article XIII
In the event that an invitee of the Desert Hunt Invitational is forced to withdraw from participation for any reason other than those detailed in Article X and Article XI, prior to (60) days of the tournament, the invite has the option to pay the deposite fee, in its entirety, to retain their invitational status for the following year.
Article XIV
The Founders are exempt, completely, from the provisions and restrictions set forth in Article X, Article XI, Article XII and Article XIII of these bylaws.
These bylaws were approved and executed by the Founders for the Desert Hunt Invitational on May 30, 2001
