Will go down as one of the classic tournaments of all-time...Team Dunphy enters last day four points down and must win six of eight Singles matches to tie...comes close by winning five and halving one...first day matches very close with Team Levey enjoying a one point lead...Team Levey dominates second day of play winning 5.5 points to Team Dunphy's 2.5., including one of the most lopsided victories in Desert Hunt history as Macy/Rudney smash Dunphy/Larson 8 and 7 in Two Ball on the Norman... first year a blind draw was used to determine matchups...top performers include Bruce Del Fante, Joe Dunphy, Eric Rudney, Steve Woodhead and first-time players Mark Slovensky and Reg Griggs...rookie Darell Breedlove also played well with a key halve against Ireland in Singles...Bruce Del Fante and Steve Woodhead were selected as 2001 Captains...biggest disappointment was Ron Connors who failed to earn a point during the tournament... |
